Daniel Huard to serve as Monitor for Presidential Library Greenbuild Session

Next Century Restorative Place: Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library

We’re not just building a presidential library; we’re building an idea with a powerful transformative impact. The Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library (TRPL) seeks to honor the President’s legacy as the conservation president while setting a new standard for sustainability by building “an awe-inspiring, impactful destination” where building and site are seamlessly integrated. TRPL utilizes the International Living Future Institute’s Living Building Challenge certification, LEED, and SITES v2 to create a building firmly rooted in place, reflective of the community’s needs and restorative of ecology. ILFI requirements, in part, fostered significant engagement with the community, an extensive ecological assessment of the site to establish a clear baseline for ambitious ecological restoration, as well as the potential for carbon sequestration, and a biophilic design framework to ensure that nature is appropriately honored in design and construction process. The place also informed the development of regenerative water and energy systems. This session will feature different members of the TRPL team to engage with attendees about strategies for identifying and employing nature-based solutions on any project
